A home grown together
The Doves' Nest is a housing cooperative in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. We are a group of people who have come together to re-start a tradition of cooperative living that dates back to the 1990s.
Our home is an 1890 house with 5 bedrooms, 2 kitchens, and a large yard. We share meals, chores, and decisions — and we're looking for new members to join us.
Cooperative ownership of common spaces and responsibilities
Members take turns cooking for the house on a rotating schedule
Decisions made collectively at weekly house meetings
Saturday workdays to maintain and improve our home together

Structure & Ownership
We are a leasing co-op organized in partnership with NASCO, the North American Students of Cooperation.
Leasing Co-op
Unlike an ownership co-op, members don't gain or have equity. Instead, we pay carrying charges (not rent) and sign membership contracts. This keeps costs low and decision-making democratic. NASCO owns the property; we operate it.
